Update on Lacey....

I took Lacey to the vet since I wasnt for sure what was wrong and didnt want to second guess culling her. From the exam the vet felt like she dislocated both legs probably that was from a fall where she split her legs. The vet said best thing is to end her suffering because the tendon was torn and without surgery that was never going to fix itself and surgery on a hen isnt a reasonable option so i had the vet is put her down.😭 but atleast i now know there wasn't anything i could do and this needed to happen.
On the bright side she doesn't have anything like mareks that is contagious to my others.
Rip my sweet hen, thanks for being a sweet bird.

Been dealing with a sick bird :(

Lacey, the blue red laced wyandotte pullet went missing last thursday night and returned Friday.  I saw her right before I left for work friday morning and at quick glance she looked fine, but when I came home in the afternoon I checked on her and noticed that she wasn't really standing well by Saturday, she was pretty much down but could hop around to move over the weekend. I was still thinking that maybe 1 foot got tangled in something or maybe bit by a spider or snake. Monday she was a little worse to where it seem like both legs she didn't want to stand on and noticed two wounds on her leg that could be spider bite but could be like bed sores too. And by Tuesday her head was down she was hot and sweaty from fighting against it. At that point I started to go and get her poultry nutrients since google pointed to low calcium but its to the point where she's pretty much paralyzed and weak and culling crossed my mind. Today on Thanksgiving day (a week since it started) she can hold herself upright but is still paralyze, her poop looks good and head seems stronger.  During this whole time her eyes, beak and ears look good to me. Started to isolate her on Sunday in a dog crate. Since she was missing before all this I was hoping that maybe something happened to her that was the cause because according to all my online Googling it could be marek disease which is not only fatal and chickens but super contagious as well. So far all my other hens seem fine. O'Course this happens right around Thanksgiving. I'm thinking since I have tomorrow off I may take her to the vet just so that way if I do you have to cull her I can live with knowing I wasn't relaying on google for the answer. Below are pictures of basically her progress as discussed through this blog.
