I keep saying that I'm done with home projects for a while but as I sit in my house there's a couple things that drive me nuts...& doing all these other updates, I'm a keep asking myself why haven't done this one already and thats the ceiling fan.
The fan in my bedroom didn't even work. It stopped working about six months after I moved in. The light still worked so i just lived with it. But after sleeping crappy one last time because stiffy room, I decided its getting done. I talked my younger sister into helping me with the install Sunday. Which really means I just directed her and have her do all the heavy lifting! During this project I also realized how horrible I am about taking before pictures and once again I forgot but both the fans look the same. Plus I took a pic and showed what it look like when I did the light shade in an earlier post! (It was just a Basic builder grade from the late 90s that was white with gold fixtures.)
Love the new on even thou after I searched online all night the night before and then spent a hour+ looking up fans at Lowes debated with my sister, I decided to go with a fan I wasnt even considering for the bedroom...but it sure is pretty. And man does it move air.
After completing that install, I was resting on my living room couch and all I can do was keep looking up at the old fan that was still in place. I hadn't really considered updating this fan since it was working & not to mention I just spent $50 buying the new glass shades for it. But I just couldnt stop looking at it and that was the piece of gold that I look at daily that drives me nuts. So decided to just go ahead and knock it out. so it's done & I can relax for a bit and enjoy my new updates & home. Considering I installed it late after work & had no daylight just a flaslight, I'd say it looks pretty good..but i did have some extra screws left over...manufacturers give extras, sometimes, right?!
Below is a picture of the fans after being uninstalled so you can get a really good idea what they look like (just look past the dust)
